Will

Will is the soul's power of self-direction, the faculty by which a being chooses and moves the world from within. In the deepest traditions it divides into two: the small will that strains and grasps, and the True Will, the one current of your nature that, once discovered, you no longer have to force. To know your True Will is to know what you are here to do; to do it is freedom. "Do what thou wilt" is not licence but obedience to the law of your own being.

The magician disciplines the will through ritual and concentration until thought becomes deed. The Fourth Way teacher insists that ordinary man has no single will at all, only a crowd of competing impulses, and that real will is born only through self-remembering and the long work of waking up. Free will is not a possession you are born holding; it is a capacity you forge. Where attention is gathered and the inner observer is awake, will ceases to be wish and becomes the very engine of creation.
