The mind beneath the mind
Self-Image
Every human being carries an inner picture of who they are, and that picture sets the boundary of what they can do, have, and become. The self-image is the blueprint the subconscious works to fulfill; a person acts and feels and performs in accordance with what they imagine to be true about themselves. Will power cannot override it, for the deeper mind will always reconcile outer action with inner conception. Change the picture and behavior follows automatically, without strain.

This is the great discovery of the success teachers: you do not rise to the level of your hopes but to the level of your self-concept. The servomechanism within steers toward the target it is given, and the target is the image you hold of yourself. To enlarge a life, then, is not first to struggle harder but to revise the inner portrait, to see and feel oneself as the person already living the desired reality, until the subconscious accepts the new picture as fact.
