The mind beneath the mind

Paradigm

A paradigm is the cluster of deeply lodged beliefs and habits that runs a life from below the level of awareness, the master program of the subconscious mind. It governs perception, logic, behavior, and results, and it does so silently, so that people credit their circumstances to luck, talent, or fate when in truth they are living out the dictates of an inherited mental blueprint. Most paradigms are not chosen; they are absorbed from family and environment before the conscious mind could judge, and they reproduce the same patterns year after year until they are deliberately changed.

The teachers of transformation insist that information alone never changes a life, because the paradigm overrides the will and pulls behavior back to the familiar. Real change comes only through a paradigm shift, the patient replacement of the old subconscious program by repeated, emotionalized impression of the new. When the paradigm shifts, everything shifts with it, for the outer results were always only the print-out of the inner program.
