How mind makes reality

Manifestation

Manifestation is the appearing in form of that which was first held in mind, the outer crystallization of an inner conviction. It is the whole arc of the work made visible: the desire conceived, the state assumed, the feeling charged, and at last the thing itself standing in the world of the senses. Like attracts like, and that which is like unto itself is drawn; the inner pattern gathers its outer match. To manifest is to watch consciousness clothe itself in circumstance.

The traditions offer many doorways into this single mystery, from the patient living-in-the-end to the playful methods of scripting and the symbolic disciplines of ritual. All of them rest on one principle: the formless responds to the formed image, and the within becomes the without. Manifestation is less a making of something from nothing than a calling-forth of what the mind has already accepted as real. The seeker learns to recognize the first signs of its appearing and to welcome them with gratitude.
