Intuition

Intuition is direct knowing, the truth that arrives whole, without the slow ladder of reasoning. It is the soul's own perception, swifter and surer than thought, the way you know before you can explain. The mystics call it the faculty by which the Over-Soul speaks through you; the philosophers grant that thoughts without intuition are empty, that the bare concept must be filled by a seeing. It is felt as much as understood, a quiet certainty, an inner yes or no registered in the body before the mind has formed a case.

To cultivate intuition is to learn its language and to trust it. Quiet the surface mind, the teachers counsel, enter the silence, ask, and listen, for intuition is drowned by the noise of analysis. Read the felt expansion or contraction in the body as your own inner compass. Intuition is not opposed to reason but completes it, supplying the leap that logic cannot make. The practiced soul comes to consult it at every fork, and finds that what seemed like guessing was a deeper form of knowing all along.
