Inspiration

Inspiration is the in-breathing of spirit, the moment when something larger than the personal self moves through you and you become a channel rather than a source. The word itself means to breathe in; the artist, the prophet, and the healer alike describe being filled, lifted, given more than they knew they had. Lofty thoughts and high ideals stimulate the mind, the teachers observe, and react upon the whole being, imparting vigor to body and clarity to soul. To be inspired is to be temporarily enlarged.

The condition for inspiration is openness. Clear the channel, the teachers say; let go, relax the grip of the anxious ego, and become a willing instrument through which a higher current can flow. The automatic hand, the affirmative prayer, the quiet receptive sitting, these are all ways of stepping aside so that more can come through. Inspiration cannot be commanded, only invited, and it favors the prepared and the surrendered. To live inspired is to keep the channel open as a way of life, trusting that when you make room, you will be filled.
Lofty thoughts, high ideals, and worthy ambitions stimulate and inspire the mind, and thence react upon the body imparting to it purity, sweetness, soundness, and vigor.Grenville Kleiser
The spirit is the master, imagination the tool, and the body the plastic material. Imagination is the power by which the will forms sidereal entities out of thoughts.Paracelsus
If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you.The Gospel of Thomas, saying 70
