Grace
Grace is the gift that cannot be earned, the unmerited descent of help, beauty, and mercy into a life. It is the recognition that the deepest goods arrive not by striving but by openness, that the river of being gives freely to the one who simply turns toward it. Grace meets effort halfway and then carries it the rest of the distance.

The Christian mystics speak of grace as the very breath of God moving through the soul; the nondual traditions speak of it as the spontaneous shining of the Self when the seeking falls still. To live by grace is to stop trying to deserve the light and to let it in, and to discover that what you longed to achieve was always being offered.
