Who you really are

Being

Being is the simple, silent fact that you are — prior to any name, role, or story you tell about yourself. Beneath all the becoming and striving lies this changeless sense of pure existence, the 'I am' that is felt before any word is added to it. To rest in Being is to step out of the restless current of doing and to know yourself as the still ground from which all doing arises. It asks nothing of you but presence, for it is already complete.

The nondual and contemplative streams point steadily to this ground. Eckhart Tolle calls Being the eternal, ever-present one Life beyond the forms that are subject to birth and death; the metaphysicians counsel a daily realization of the statement of being; the mystics fall silent before the great 'I AM' of Psalm 46. To know your own Being is to discover a peace that no circumstance can touch, because it does not depend on circumstances at all.
Be still, and know that I am God.Psalm 46:10
Everything, in so far as it is in itself, endeavours to persist in its own being.Baruch Spinoza
There is no peace; there is no rest for those who are seeking outside their own being. The kingdom of God is within.Joel Goldsmith
The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction not a destination.Carl Rogers
