How mind makes reality

Assumption

Assumption is the act of taking on the consciousness of the wish already fulfilled and wearing it as one's own. It is the secret discipline of Neville Goddard: to assume a feeling so completely that the senses, which still report the old facts, are quietly overruled by the new conviction. Whatever you assume to be true, and persist in, hardens into fact, for the world is the assumed self pushed out into visible form. To assume is not to pretend but to occupy a state until it becomes home.

The practice lives in the silent inner room where one enters the state akin to sleep and sleeps as the person one wishes to be. Persistence is everything: the assumption must be held in peace, faithful over the contrary evidence of the senses, until the outer world catches up. Identity precedes circumstance, and the chosen self draws its world after it. This is the gateway through which the seeker walks from longing into having.
