George Hunt Williamson

1926-1986 Channeling 1950s Contactee Movement

Early contactee channeling and the ‘Wanderers’ / Brotherhood of the Seven Rays cosmology

George Hunt Williamson was an American contactee, channel, and metaphysical author born on December 9, 1926. Sometimes writing under the names Michael d’Obrenovic and “Brother Philip,” he rose to prominence in the early 1950s contactee movement.

He described formative psychic experiences in his youth, including a vivid out-of-body episode, and became interested in UFOs after reading Donald Keyhoe’s The Flying Saucers Are Real in 1951. He was for a time associated with the well-known contactee George Adamski.

Williamson’s best-known book, The Saucers Speak! (1954, with Alfred C. Bailey), presented itself as a documentary report of interstellar communication received by radiotelegraphy and automatic writing. He later relocated to South America, where, under the name Brother Philip, he founded the Brotherhood of the Seven Rays, an occult community at a monastery in Peru that drew contactees and those of a Theosophical bent; that work produced texts such as Secret of the Andes.

His writings helped popularize the idea of benevolent space “brothers” and of incarnated souls from elsewhere, an early form of the “Wanderers” and starseed motif. He died in January 1986. His channeled and contact claims are unverifiable and are presented here as a sincere experiment within the contactee tradition.

Early contactee channeling: Among the first to frame UFO contact as channeled spiritual communication rather than mere sighting.

  • The ‘Wanderers’ / starseed seed: Advanced the notion of souls incarnated on Earth from elsewhere on a service mission, a motif later central to Law of One and Pleiadian lore.
  • Brotherhood of the Seven Rays: Fused Theosophical Ascended-Master cosmology with the new flying-saucer mythos in an organized community.
  • Foundational contactee texts: The Saucers Speak! and Secret of the Andes shaped the vocabulary of the emerging channeling subculture.

Influenced by: Theosophy and the Ascended Masters tradition; the early 1950s flying-saucer and contactee milieu; George Adamski and Donald Keyhoe.

  • Influenced: the contactee and channeling subculture; the “Wanderers” and starseed motif; later Law of One and Pleiadian cosmologies.
