Life need not be a struggle; abundance follows inner posture

Stuart Wilde (born 24 September 1946 in Farnham, England, died 1 May 2013) was a British writer, lecturer, and teacher in the New Age and self-empowerment field.

He began his work as a writer and speaker after studying Taoist philosophy in the 1970s, and developed a distinctive voice that was at once metaphysical, irreverent, and humorous. Over his career he wrote some twenty books, translated into many languages and selling in the millions, and was also active as a lecturer, essayist, scriptwriter, and music producer.

He died of a heart attack while driving in Ireland. Wilde belongs in the mind-power lineage as a popular prosperity and self-empowerment teacher who insisted that life is “never meant to be a struggle” and that abundance flows from one’s inner energy, expectation, and willingness to receive.

His best-known prosperity titles include Life Was Never Meant to Be a Struggle (1987), The Trick to Money Is Having Some (1989), and The Little Money Bible (1998). His sincere experiment was to teach, in plain and often comic language, that shifting one’s inner state and self-image changes one’s outer experience of money and freedom — a mass-market restatement of New Thought prosperity ideas blended with Taoist detachment.

The Trick to Money Is Having Some (1989): A signature prosperity text arguing that money follows an inner posture of ease and worthiness rather than strain.

  • “Life is not a struggle”: Reframed effort and lack as self-imposed, teaching release and expectation over grind.
  • Energy and self-image: Emphasised personal “energy,” vibration, and identity as the levers of outer circumstance.
  • Accessible voice: Brought metaphysical prosperity teaching to a broad audience through humour and a conversational style.
Everything is out there waiting for you. All you have to do is walk up and declare yourself in. No need for permission. You just need courage to say, ‘Include me’. Providing you have the energy to pull it off you can do what you like.
Affirmations (1988)
The Universal Law is impartial. It will give you anything you believe. It will throw you garbage or roses depending on the energy you put in. You are the one in charge, and you must accept that and stand alone. If you think God is coming down to fix things for you, forget it. God is out playing golf.
Affirmations (1988)
Using the power of the light within you, you are able to pull energy from the Universal Mind. It will give you a transcendent view that you can use for any endeavor you choose.
Affirmations (1988)
Spirituality is invisible. Never forget that. If you can see it, if it’s dressed in funny robes, if it’s up there to be looked at, if it’s making a big performance of itself, it is not spirituality. It is ego.
Infinite Self: 33 Steps to Reclaiming Your Inner Power (1996)
It may seem so at first, but that’s because you still belong to your emotions and opinions—you think they’re yours and that they’re real. They aren’t—they belong to the ego. The Infinite Self cannot be insecure.
Infinite Self: 33 Steps to Reclaiming Your Inner Power (1996)
Our life’s journey of self-discovery is not a straight-line rise from one level of consciousness to another. Instead, it is a series of steep climbs and flat plateaus, then further climbs.
Whispering Winds of Change: Perceptions of a New World (1993)
The real you, the inner you, is pure, very pure. It’s loving and it’s magnanimous. It understands. It has patience. It is tolerant-it will wait forever while your ego trots all over everywhere trying to figure life out.
The Secrets of Life (2007)
Life was never meant to be a struggle, just a gentle progression from one point to another, much like walking through a valley on a sunny day.
