Aligning language with desired outcome to reprogram the subconscious

Robert Tennyson Stevens (known as “Bob”) is an American personal-development teacher, author, and founder of Mastery Systems, best known for originating Conscious Language — a practical discipline of upgrading one’s habitual speech, in real time, so that words state what one actually wants in the present tense rather than reinforcing lack, doubt, or limitation.

He traces the seed of the work to a 1968 study of Hopi language, which he describes as oriented to here-and-now reality, and has spent decades coaching individuals, teams, and organizations in language, body language, emotion, and imagination as levers of change.

His core text, Conscious Language: The Logos of Now (2005/2007, Mastery Systems Publishing), frames everyday wording as the “operating system” of the subconscious and teaches the reader to notice and “upgrade” disempowering phrasing on the spot.

Alongside Conscious Language he developed related Mastery Systems modalities — Imagination Activation, Outcome Facilitation, and Sacred Body Language Translations. Stevens’s place in the Atlas is as a late-20th/early-21st-century systematizer of the New Thought “power of the word” stream — the lineage running from Emma Curtis Hopkins, Christian D.

Larson’s constructive speech, Florence Scovel Shinn’s spoken word, and Émile Coué’s autosuggestion — recast in the vocabulary of NLP and somatics.

His distinctive contribution is not the metaphysical claim that “words create reality” (which he shares with the wider tradition) but the real-time micro-practice: catching a single limiting word as it leaves your mouth (“trying,” “want,” “but,” “should,” “hope,” “can’t”) and immediately restating it in empowered, present-tense form.

This positions him as a practical, technique-focused node rather than an original metaphysician.

Conscious Language: A named, teachable discipline of upgrading habitual speech in the moment toward present-tense, affirmative wording.

  • The “upgrade” move: Specific word-swaps (“trying” to “I am,” “but” to “and,” “have to” to “get to,” “want” to “I am / I have”) that change the subconscious instruction.
  • Present-tense “I am” framing: Stating the desired state as already underway (“I am learning to.”) rather than as future or as lack.
  • Body + word congruence: Pairing the new wording with a felt, embodied “yes” so the statement lands rather than staying merely verbal.
Language, speech, words, and ultimately thoughts are the casting of spells. Our language shapes energy into matter.
Conscious Language: The Logos of Now
Health, disease (disease), happiness, sadness, abundance, poverty, survival and “thrival” are all Decreed by the individual or group into reality through our Consciousness. Our language shapes our Consciousness.
Conscious Language: The Logos of Now
Our awareness—that which we are Conscious of being—is the tapestry of our life.
Conscious Language: The Logos of Now
By changing one word within ourselves, we expand, contract or alter our Consciousness, our awareness and our reality.
Conscious Language: The Logos of Now
After all, the words that we speak are the literal commands to consciousness itself, the quantum “stuff” where everything begins!
Conscious Language: The Logos of Now
When we say specifically what we choose with aligned feelings our subconscious, being literal, brings our choice into being. The more specific we are, the more instantaneous the manifestation. The more we feel, the more powerful the manifestation.
Conscious Language: The Logos of Now
Because we create through the words that carry our deepest beliefs, our language holds the power to tear down or build up, to destroy or create.
