The transmission
Carla Lisbeth Rueckert was an American channel born on July 16, 1943, in Lake Forest, Illinois. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Louisville in 1966 and a Master’s in Library Service in 1971, working as a librarian and bibliographer before turning full-time to spiritual research.
She had joined a meditation group founded by the UFO and paranormal researcher Don Elkins in the early 1960s, became his research partner in 1968, and together they formally established L/L Research in 1970.
She began channeling in 1974 and continued for some thirty-seven years. Rueckert is best known as the “instrument” for the Ra contact, the source of the five-volume Law of One (also called the Ra Material).
Beginning on January 15, 1981, while teaching a student to channel, she reportedly entered a deep trance state in which a source identifying itself as “Ra” spoke through her; over 106 sessions between 1981 and 1984, the group recorded thousands of questions and answers.
Unlike her conscious channeling, the Ra work left her unconscious throughout. After Elkins’s death in 1984 she married scribe Jim McCarty in 1987 and continued at the helm of L/L Research, later channeling the composite source called “Q’uo.” She died on April 1, 2015.
The trance-channeled nature of this material is, by its own framing, an experiential and unverifiable transmission rather than an established fact.
