Channeled ‘Group’ teachings of human empowerment
The transmission
Steve Rother is an American channel and author who, by his account, began channeling around 1995–1996 after a spiritual experience in which he found himself speaking words he attributed not to himself but to a collective he calls the Group—described as a gathering of guides from “Home,” the non-physical/angelic realm.
A former businessman, he turned to full-time channeling and, with his wife Barbara Rother, founded the organization Lightworker (and the community associated with the greeting “Espavo”). His monthly channeled messages, the Beacons of Light, have been published for many years and translated into numerous languages, and he has led seminars internationally.
Rother’s place in the mind-power and channeling lineage is as a prominent empowerment channel: where some galactic channels emphasize ET cosmology, the Group’s material centers on human self-worth, personal responsibility, and the idea that each person is a powerful creator and “lightworker” choosing their own path.
His teaching that identity and choice precede circumstance—that one becomes a lightworker by declaring it—aligns the channeling current with the broader self-empowerment and human-potential streams of the New Age.
Through Beacons of Light and a large online following he helped popularize the “lightworker” identity that pervades contemporary spiritual internet culture.
What they gave
‘The Group’ channeling: Established a long-running body of channeled teaching from a collective of guides from “Home.”
- Empowerment focus: Centered the material on self-worth, personal choice, and the creative power of the individual rather than ET cosmology.
- ‘Lightworker’ identity: Helped popularize and spread the lightworker self-concept now ubiquitous in online spirituality.
- Beacons of Light: Produced a sustained, widely-translated stream of monthly channeled messages building a global community.
