Channeled teachings of ‘Orin’ on living with joy and personal power

Sanaya Roman is an American author and channel, known for transmitting the teachings of a nonphysical guide she calls “Orin,” whom she describes as a being of love, wisdom, and compassion.

A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, she has channeled Orin for several decades and built, together with her long-time collaborator Duane Packer (who channels a guide called “DaBen”), a substantial program of books, courses, and recorded meditations.

Their combined work has been translated into more than twenty languages and distributed in very large numbers worldwide. (Her birth year is not reliably documented in available sources and is therefore left unstated.) Roman matters to the mind-power lineage through the Orin material’s focus on cultivating joy, personal power, and spiritual growth as deliberate inner practices.

Her book Living with Joy (1986), subtitled “Keys to Personal Power and Spiritual Transformation,” teaches readers to “grow through joy rather than through struggle and pain,” reframing emotional state and self-awareness as creative tools.

With Packer she also co-authored Opening to Channel, presenting channeling as a learnable skill for connecting with a guide or higher self. Presented faithfully and without endorsement, her sincere experiment is the use of the channeling format to deliver practical teachings on consciousness, feeling, and self-transformation.

Living with Joy (1986): Offered a widely read framework for growing through joy rather than struggle, treating inner state as a path to personal power.

  • The Orin teachings: Built a coherent body of channeled material centred on consciousness, emotional cultivation, and spiritual growth.
  • Opening to Channel: Co-authored a guide presenting channeling as a teachable practice rather than a rare gift.
  • Guided-meditation method: Pioneered audio meditations as a vehicle for transmitting energy-and-consciousness teachings to a broad audience.

Influenced by: the New Age channeling tradition; her collaborator Duane Packer; and human-potential and New Thought currents emphasising inner growth.

  • Influenced: channeling students worldwide and the “Opening to Channel” teaching lineage that grew from her and Packer’s work.
