The transmission
Elizabeth Clare Prophet (1939–2009), often called “Guru Ma” by followers, was the co-founder and, after Mark Prophet’s death in 1973, the leading figure of The Summit Lighthouse, which she reorganized as the Church Universal and Triumphant (CUT).
A charismatic and prolific teacher, she became the most visible exponent of the ascended-master tradition in the late 20th century. She authored or delivered a large body of work — including The Science of the Spoken Word and the “Climb the Highest Mountain” series — and built a substantial movement, relocating its base to a Montana ranch near Yellowstone.
CUT drew significant controversy in the late 1980s and early 1990s over apocalyptic prophecies and the construction of survival shelters. Despite the controversy, her systematization of decree practice and violet-flame work remains widely influential in New Age circles.
What they gave
Science of the Spoken Word: Codified decrees, mantras, and affirmations as a deliberate technology for directing spiritual energy.
- Violet Flame popularization: Made violet-flame visualization a mainstream New Age purification practice.
- The ascended-master hierarchy: Detailed an elaborate cosmology of Masters guiding human spiritual evolution.
- Charismatic transmission: Spread the I AM/ascended-master current to a broad late-20th-century audience.
In their words
The violet flame has many purposes. It revitalizes and invigorates us. It can heal emotional and even physical problems, improve relationships and make life easier.
Your Real Self is the permanent atom of your identity, the rock of ages that remains unmoved by the restless tides of life.
