The God-Self within as source of abundance

John Randolph Price (1932-2014) was an American New Thought author and lecturer who, after a successful corporate career as an advertising and PR executive, turned full-time to spiritual metaphysics.

In 1981 he and his wife Jan founded The Quartus Foundation, a non-profit spiritual-research organization in the Texas hill country near San Antonio, through which they wrote, taught, and originated World Healing Day (first held December 31, 1986).

He authored more than twenty books, three of them national bestsellers—The Superbeings (1981), The Abundance Book (1987), and The Angels Within Us (1993)—blending classic New Thought, Unity-style affirmative prayer, and the nondual “God dwells in me as me” current also voiced in A Course in Miracles.

Price’s place in the Atlas is as a clear, popular twentieth-century voice for prosperity consciousness grounded explicitly in the indwelling God-Self. Where some prosperity teaching leans toward mental mechanics (“think it and get it”), Price’s distinctive emphasis is that money is an effect, never the source: the only true Source of supply is the divine Presence within—the “I AM,” the Christ-self, the Higher Self.

His signature instrument, the 40-Day Prosperity Plan, treats abundance as a consciousness shift away from belief in lack and toward identification with that inner Source. He also represents the collective turn of the tradition: the conviction that synchronized inner work (World Healing Day) can address planetary, not just personal, conditions.

The God-Self as Source: Reframed prosperity as recognizing the indwelling divine Presence—not persons, jobs, or conditions—as the only true source of supply.

  • The 40-Day Prosperity Plan: A disciplined consciousness-shift protocol (ten “statements of principle,” repeated to forty consecutive days) for moving from a vibration of lack to one of abundance.
  • Money as effect, not cause: Crisply separated visible money (an effect) from invisible Substance/Source (the cause), a central plank of prosperity-consciousness teaching.
  • World Healing Day: Originated a global synchronized meditation (from 1986) extending inner-work principles to collective, planetary healing and peace.

Influenced by: New Thought; A Course in Miracles; Unity (affirmative prayer, the indwelling Christ-self).

  • Influenced: later prosperity-consciousness teaching; the World Healing Day / global-meditation movement.
