Mark Nepo, born February 23, 1951, in Brooklyn, New York, is an American poet, philosopher, and spiritual teacher whose work centers on presence and the inner life.

He is best known for ‘The Book of Awakening,’ a daily-reading volume that became a #1 New York Times bestseller. A cancer survivor, his illness in his mid-thirties deepened the themes of mortality, gratitude, and presence that run through his writing.

His work reached a wide audience after he was featured on Oprah Winfrey’s ‘Super Soul Sunday.’
