Myles Munroe

1954-2014 Word of Faith & Prosperity Gospel Word of Faith / Kingdom Principles

Maximizing God-given potential and purpose

Myles Munroe was born on 20 April 1954 in Nassau, Bahamas. He became a pastor, author, and motivational speaker, and founded Bahamas Faith Ministries International in Nassau, where he served as president and senior pastor.

Working within the Pentecostal and charismatic stream of Christianity, he developed a teaching ministry that combined biblical exposition with leadership development and personal-potential themes, travelling widely as a conference speaker and reaching audiences across Africa, the Caribbean, and beyond.

Munroe is best known for his emphasis on “maximizing potential” and on “Kingdom principles,” the idea that believers are to recover and exercise a God-given dominion and purpose in the present world. He published numerous bestselling books, including Understanding Your Potential, Rediscovering the Kingdom, and works on purpose, leadership, and marriage.

He taught that every person carries untapped potential and a specific purpose, and that recognising and acting on these is a spiritual obligation. Munroe died on 9 November 2014 in an aircraft crash in the Bahamas, along with his wife and several associates.

  • Kingdom principles: Taught that believers possess a present, God-given authority and purpose, encouraging an active, expectant orientation toward life.
  • Purpose-driven identity: Located a person’s outcomes in the recognition and pursuit of their God-given purpose, an identity-first framing of achievement.
  • Global leadership influence: Through books and conferences, carried potential-and-purpose teaching to large Pentecostal and charismatic audiences worldwide.

The heart of prayer is communion with God in a unity of love and purpose. It is agreeing with God—heart, soul, mind, and strength—to bring about God’s will.
Understanding the Purpose and Power of Prayer (2002)
To understand the principle of prayer, it is necessary to understand the mind and purpose of the Creator Himself.
