Telepathic and claimed physical contact with the “Plejaren”

Eduard Albert “Billy” Meier (born 3 February 1937 in Bülach, Switzerland) is a Swiss farmer who, beginning publicly in the mid-1970s, claimed ongoing telepathic and physical contact with human-looking extraterrestrials he called the “Plejaren” (often loosely rendered “Pleiadians”).

A widely cited contact resumed on 28 January 1975, when Meier said he met a being named Semjase; over subsequent years he produced more than a thousand photographs, plus films, sound recordings and metal samples, said to document the visitors and their craft.

He founded a community organisation in the late 1970s and established the Semjase Silver Star Center near Hinterschmidrüti, which remains the hub of his “FIGU” movement. Meier matters to the mind-power and galactic-channeling lineage less as an evidential case—his photographs have been widely characterised by skeptics and many ufologists as hoaxed models—than as a foundational template.

His enormous body of “Contact Notes,” presenting cosmological and spiritual teachings attributed to advanced star beings, helped seed the late-twentieth-century idea that benevolent Pleiadians transmit higher wisdom to chosen Earth contactees.

That motif—telepathic reception of galactic teaching, the human channel as emissary—became the structural model for much later Pleiadian and starseed channeling. This entry describes his documented claims and influence neutrally; it does not endorse the contact claims, which remain contested.

The Pleiadian-contact template: Popularised the now-standard motif of telepathic reception of spiritual teaching from benevolent “Pleiadian” star beings.

  • A vast channeled corpus: The multi-volume “Contact Notes” frame cosmology, reincarnation and spiritual law as transmitted galactic instruction.
  • The contactee-as-emissary role: Modeled the chosen-human-messenger structure later echoed across galactic channeling.
  • A durable movement: FIGU and the Semjase Silver Star Center institutionalised the teachings into an enduring organisation and global following.

Influenced by: The 1950s contactee movement (e.g. George Adamski); broadly Theosophical and reincarnationist cosmology circulating in mid-century esoteric culture.

  • Influenced: The wider Pleiadian/starseed channeling milieu and galactic-federation subcultures that adopted his core motif; popular UFO contactee lore.
