A Teacher

Jim McCarty

b. 1947 Channeling Law of One / L/L Research Channeling

Scribe of the Ra contact and later channel of Q’uo

James Allen McCarty is an American channel and editor born on May 10, 1947, in Kearney, Nebraska. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and a Master’s in Education from the University of Florida, then in 1974 moved to a wooded property in Marion County, Kentucky, to build a log cabin and pursue a self-sufficient life.

In 1977 he founded the Rock Creek Research and Development Laboratories. After hearing Don Elkins and Carla Rueckert interviewed on a 1979 radio program about UFOs, he sought them out and joined L/L Research in December 1980.

McCarty is best known as the scribe of the Ra contact: throughout the 106 sessions of 1981-1984, while Rueckert channeled and Elkins questioned, McCarty hand-recorded the transcripts that became the five-volume Law of One, and he is credited as co-author.

He married Carla Rueckert in 1987 and, after Elkins’s death, continued L/L Research with her, becoming a channel of the composite source “Q’uo.” As the last surviving member of the original Ra team, he now serves as president of L/L Research and mentor to newer channels.

The channeled status of this material is, by its nature, an unverifiable transmission presented as a sincere experiment.

Scribe of the Law of One: Produced the verbatim transcripts that preserved the Ra Material for publication.

  • Channel of Q’uo: Carried L/L Research’s channeling work forward through decades of question-and-answer transmissions.
  • Steward of the lineage: As L/L Research president, curated, republished, and freely distributed the archive and mentored a new generation of channels.
  • Embodied practice: Modeled the contemplative, service-oriented discipline that the Law of One material frames as central to soul evolution.
Meditation is the way to find out whether or not all these really works. When you seek you will find.
