Curuppumullage Jinarajadasa

1875–1953 Theosophy

Sri Lankan polymath who carried Theosophy across the globe.

Curuppumullage Jinarajadasa was a Sri Lankan-born Theosophist, linguist, and author educated at St John’s College, Cambridge. He served as the fourth International President of the Theosophical Society from 1945 to 1953.

A gifted lecturer fluent in many European languages, he wrote on religion, philosophy, art, and occult chemistry.

He produced more than fifty books and over 1,600 articles, and was the most widely travelled of the Society’s presidents, spreading Theosophical teaching across continents.

A close associate of Annie Besant and C. W. Leadbeater, he rose through the Theosophical Society to become its fourth International President at Adyar.
