A Teacher
Fenwicke Holmes
Creative mind / Science of Mind co-development
The transmission
Fenwicke Lindsay Holmes was an American New Thought minister, author, and lecturer, and the elder brother and early collaborator of Ernest Holmes, founder of Religious Science (Science of Mind).
The two worked closely in the formative years, co-authoring and co-lecturing, and Fenwicke authored works such as The Faith That Heals and Creative Mind (a title and theme shared with his brother’s early work), helping to develop and disseminate the creative-mind metaphysics that became Science of Mind.
Fenwicke’s distinctive significance is international: he became a major influence on Japanese New Thought, notably shaping Masaharu Taniguchi and the Seicho-no-Ie movement, one of the largest New Thought-derived organizations in the world.
He thus represents both the collaborative origin of Science of Mind and the global transmission of New Thought beyond the West. Within the deep-cuts layer he documents how the creative-mind teaching of Troward and Larson was carried, refined, and exported by the Holmes brothers.
What they gave

- Global transmission: Strongly influenced Japanese New Thought (Seicho-no-Ie / Taniguchi).
- Healing emphasis: Promoted spiritual/mental healing within the New Thought framework.
In their words
Mind gives birth to thought and then uses its thought as the model of its creation, just as the artist conceives the idea of his picture and then uses the ingenuity of his brain and hand to picture forth its beauties in form and color.
Mind creates what it thinks.
