Crowley’s successor who kept the O.T.O. alive after his master’s death.
The transmission
Karl Johannes Germer, also known as Frater Saturnus, was a German-American businessman and occultist who published Aleister Crowley’s writings and became one of his closest associates.
In 1942 Crowley appointed him as his successor as Outer Head of the Order of Ordo Templi Orientis. After Crowley’s death in 1947 Germer led the order until his own death in 1962.
What they gave
He financed and published much of Crowley’s work and preserved the O.T.O.’s continuity through the difficult years following Crowley’s death.

He succeeded Aleister Crowley as Outer Head of Ordo Templi Orientis, serving as the order’s U.S. representative and leader from 1947 to 1962.
