Mabel Collins

1851–1927 Theosophy

English novelist whose slender devotional treatise still guides aspirants.

Mabel Collins was an English novelist and Theosophist, born in Guernsey to the author Mortimer Collins. She became an influential figure in the Theosophical Society in the 1880s and helped Helena Blavatsky edit the magazine Lucifer. Her involvement with the Society ended in 1889 amid disputes.

She wrote the enduring esoteric classic Light on the Path (1885), long cherished by Theosophists, along with many novels and devotional works.

She worked closely with Helena Blavatsky in the early Theosophical Society, co-editing Lucifer, before parting from the movement in 1889.
