Chakra-based release of traumatic energy from body, psyche, and spirit
The transmission
Asha Clinton (MSW, PhD) is the developer of Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT), a depth-oriented energy-psychology method that emerged in the late 1990s.
A former Princeton professor who spent decades in full-time clinical practice, she trained across analytical (Jungian) psychology, expressive arts therapy, object relations, self psychology, and Sufi and Buddhist practice, then integrated these streams into a single trauma-focused system.
AIT works by having the client place their hands on a sequence of “energetic memory centers” — corresponding to the chakras or to major neural bundles along the body’s midline — while focusing on a triggering experience, so that its negative charge can be released.
In 2019 the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology recognized her with an award for outstanding contribution to the field. Clinton’s significance in the mind-power lineage is her fusion of depth-psychological understanding with energetic release.
Where many energy-psychology methods are technique-first and theory-light, AIT couples the hands-on clearing of a felt charge with an analytic account of trauma, the self, and spiritual development. By routing release through the chakra system, she explicitly weds an Eastern esoteric map of subtle-body centers to Western trauma therapy, treating the clearing of stored emotional energy as inseparable from the unfolding of the deeper self.
What they gave
Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT): A chakra-based, language-guided method for releasing traumatic energy from body, psyche, and spirit.
- Energetic memory centers: Uses hand placement on chakra-aligned points to discharge the energetic charge of a remembered trauma.
- Depth integration: Marries analytic depth psychology with hands-on energy clearing, giving the method an explicit theory of self and spirit.
- East–West synthesis: Embeds an esoteric subtle-body map (the chakras) inside a clinical trauma framework.
The line they stand in
Influenced by: Analytical (Jungian) psychology; object relations and self psychology; Sufi and Buddhist practice; the energy-psychology field.
- Influenced: Depth-oriented energy-psychology practitioners and trauma therapists working with chakra-based release.
