Barbara Ann Brennan (1939–2022) was an American author and energy healer who trained as a physicist and worked as a research scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center before turning to the study of the human “energy field.” This scientific background gave her work an unusually systematic, almost clinical presentation within the field of aura-based healing.
Her landmark book Hands of Light (1987) became a foundational text of modern energy healing, offering detailed maps of the aura, chakras, and “Human Energy Field” together with healing techniques. She founded the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, training thousands of practitioners.
Her model drew on bioenergetics, Theosophical aura concepts, and Pathwork channeling, presenting subtle-energy anatomy as something perceivable and workable.
