Marc Allen
Effortless goal achievement through ideal scenes & ease
The transmission
Marc Allen (b. 1946) is an American author, speaker, and musician who co-founded New World Library with Shakti Gawain in 1977 and serves as its president and publisher.
Under his direction the company grew from a no-capital start-up into a leading mind-body-spirit publisher, bringing to print books that defined the modern genre—Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now, Deepak Chopra’s The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, and Gawain’s Creative Visualization.
Alongside his editorial work he wrote a sequence of his own success titles, including Visionary Business, The Millionaire Course, A Visionary Life, and The Type-Z Guide to Success, framed around the idea that prosperity and fulfillment can be reached gently rather than through strain.
Allen’s distinctive contribution is a relaxed, anti-hustle approach to manifestation and success. Where much success literature glorifies grind and willpower, Allen—openly describing himself as “lazy,” keeping a famously short workweek—teaches that one sets a clear “ideal scene,” distils it into present-tense goals, and then moves toward it “in an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way.” This Tao Te Ching-inflected ease, paired with New Thought affirmation and Gawain-style visualization, places him squarely in the lineage that runs from New Thought through the human-potential movement into contemporary conscious-business and relaxed-success teaching.
He represents the gentle, ease-centered pole of practical manifestation: clarify the vision, align the subconscious, take small steps, and let it unfold without force.
What they gave
The ideal scene: A vivid, present-tense written picture of one’s best possible life, used as the seedbed from which concrete goals and affirmations are drawn.
- Relaxed “Type-Z” success: A deliberate counter to the hustle ethic—setting intention, staying relaxed and open, taking small steps, and letting results come “the easy way.”
- The “easy and relaxed manner” affirmation frame: His signature qualifier that turns any goal into a present-tense affirmation while pre-empting the doubt that struggle is required.
- Publisher’s reach: As New World Library’s publisher, he shaped the modern mind-body-spirit canon, amplifying the field far beyond his own books.
