George Adamski
Telepathic contact with benevolent ‘Space Brothers’
The transmission
George Adamski (1891–1965) was a Polish-born American author and self-styled mystic who became the most famous of the 1950s UFO contactees. Born in Poland and brought to the United States in infancy, he developed an early interest in occultism and, before his saucer fame, ran a quasi-mystical teaching he called the Royal Order of Tibet.
Beginning in 1952 he claimed face-to-face and later telepathic contact with benevolent humanoid extraterrestrials—“Space Brothers”—and produced photographs he said showed their craft. His books Flying Saucers Have Landed (1953, with Desmond Leslie), Inside the Space Ships (1955), and Flying Saucers Farewell (1961) were bestsellers, selling hundreds of thousands of copies.
Adamski’s significance to the mind-power and channeling lineage is foundational rather than doctrinal: he established the template of the benevolent, spiritually-advanced extraterrestrial who delivers moral and metaphysical teaching to humanity.
Inside the Space Ships describes journeys aboard Venusian and other craft and conversations with “Space Brothers” who warn against humanity’s self-destructive path—an explicitly spiritual message wrapped in a contact narrative.
While mainstream investigators regarded his claims as hoaxes, his work seeded the broader “space brothers” mythos and the move from physical contact to telepathic contact that the later galactic-channeling current (Van Tassel, Nidle, and beyond) would fully develop into channeled transmission.
What they gave
The ‘Space Brothers’ template: Established the benevolent, morally-instructive ET as a cultural archetype.
- Contact as spiritual teaching: Framed extraterrestrial contact as a vehicle for metaphysical and ethical guidance, not just sightings.
- Bridge to channeling: Moved from claimed physical contact toward telepathic communication, prefiguring channeled-transmission cosmology.
- A mass-market foundation: His bestselling books gave the contactee movement its first wide popular reach.
In their words
Under these laws each individual, each group of mankind, all intelligent life on each world, must decide its own destiny without interference from another. Counsel, yes. Instruction, yes. But interference to the point of destruction, never.
We consider planets throughout the Universe as being in one vast sea of life.
The line they stand in
Influenced by: early-20th-century occultism and Theosophical “masters” lore; his own Royal Order of Tibet teaching; the dawning saucer/UFO era.
- Influenced: the 1950s contactee movement; later “space brothers” and benevolent-ET channeling; the Aetherius Society and UFO-religion currents.
