Resonance Repatterning
Move a stuck issue from ‘non-coherent’ to ‘coherent’ by naming a positive intention, doing a simple positive action (breath, movement, sound, color, or a positive statement), and noticing the shift in state.
In one line: Name the stuck pattern and the positive intention, feel where you are between them, do one simple positive action (breath, movement, sound, color, or a felt statement), then re-check for the shift — skip the muscle test as a truth-teller.
What it is
The overall, self-applicable shape of a Resonance Repatterning session, the modality founded by Chloe Faith Wordsworth.
In her model, distress is a non-coherent pattern (an old experience, limiting belief, or perception you are “resonating with”) and wellbeing is coherence (the intention or goal you are “not yet resonating with”). A session:
(1) names a non-supportive pattern and the positive intention that would replace it; (2) “checks” where you sit between them — Wordsworth uses muscle checking for “on / off” (coherent / non-coherent) responses; (3) does a repatterning action — a simple positive act such as a breath pattern, a movement, a sound or tone, a color focus, or a spoken positive statement — to shift toward coherence; then (4) re-checks to notice the change.
Rendered honestly here, the usable spine is the intention → positive action → notice-the-shift loop; the muscle-test step is the Atlas’s framing, not a verified instrument.
The Method
- Name the non-supportive pattern. State plainly what is stuck — a worry, a reactive belief, an old reaction (e.g. “I freeze when I have to speak up”).
- Name the positive intention. State the coherent counterpart you want to resonate with (e.g. “I speak clearly and calmly when it matters”). Wordsworth frames change as moving toward the positive intention, not just away from the problem.
- Check your starting state. Notice — honestly, by felt sense — how true/available the positive intention feels right now (a 0-10 read works fine). In the formal system this is done by muscle checking for an “on/off” response; treat that as the method’s framing, not a reliable test — see Section 4.
- Choose a repatterning action. Pick one simple positive act to shift state: a breath pattern (slow, even breathing), a movement (a cross-lateral march, a stretch, a Feldenkrais-style gentle motion), a sound (humming or toning a vowel), a color (rest attention on a color that feels supportive), or a positive statement (say the intention aloud with feeling). Wordsworth’s Spiral Up! offers many such “options.”
- Do the action with the intention in mind. Hold the positive intention while you do the action for a minute or two, letting the feeling of it come up (The Inner Creates the Outer).
- Re-check. Notice the state again — does the positive intention feel more available, the charge on the problem lower? A genuine softening is the signal the action did its work.
- Repeat or layer. If little shifted, choose a different action; small shifts can be stacked across short sessions. (Sourcing note: faithful paraphrase of the publicly described Resonance Repatterning arc, with only short identifying terms — “non-coherent,” “coherent,” “repatterning action,” “muscle checking” — quoted; no extended copyrighted text reproduced.)
Source & Lineage
From Chloe Faith Wordsworth, founder of Resonance Repatterning (originally Holographic Repatterning, c. 1990), synthesized from Polarity Therapy (Randolph Stone), Five Element acupuncture (J.R.
Worsley), Feldenkrais movement, and sound/color/breath modalities. Distinct in this library from Weissman’s reactive gesture-and-mantra (a fixed phrase used in the moment) and from generic affirmation — here the structure is a loop: name the gap between a problem and a positive intention, apply a small positive action, re-assess.
The full system wraps this in practitioner muscle-testing and a large protocol of “off/on” statements; the transferable self-practice is the intention-action-recheck arc alone.
Common refinements
Trusting the muscle test for decisions. Don’t use an “on/off” response to make health, money, or relationship choices — it is not a reliable oracle. Use the felt-sense / 0-10 read instead.
- Skipping the positive intention. Clearing the “problem” without naming what you want to resonate toward loses the active, approach-framed part.
- Going through the motions. The action only shifts state if the feeling of the intention is allowed to come up; mechanical repetition does little.
- Over-claiming the mechanism. You can use the intention-action-recheck loop for its real effect without believing the coherence-physics story.
