Quantum Jumping
To accelerate skill or result acquisition by entering a relaxed meditative state and vividly imagining stepping into a parallel-universe version of yourself who has already mastered the desired ability, learning from them, and integrating that knowing back into your present life.
Quantum Jumping in 5 lines: Relax deeply. Pick one skill you want. Imagine stepping into a parallel-universe version of you who has already mastered it — see them, their world, their ease. Absorb their knowing as if downloading it. Then jump back, carry it into your day, and practise what you brought home.
What it is
Quantum Jumping is Burt Goldman’s guided visualization for “borrowing” abilities from an idealised version of yourself. Its premise — dressed in the language of quantum many-worlds — is that there already exists a parallel-universe “you” who has already achieved what you want (the painter, the confident speaker, the wealthy entrepreneur), and you can mentally jump into that self, learn from them, and bring the knowing back.
Practically, it is a structured imaginal-modelling exercise: relax deeply, picture stepping through into an alternate self, absorb their skill and bearing, then return and integrate. It belongs in imagination assumption because the engine is vivid first-person imagining of an already-accomplished self.
The Method
Faithfully synthesised from Goldman’s Quantum Jumping program:
- Relax into a meditative state. Using the kind of relaxed alpha-level focus Goldman learned in the Silva Method, settle the body and quiet the mind before visualising.
- Choose one specific ability or result. Decide what you want to learn or become — a craft, a confidence, a creative talent. Goldman applied it especially to skill acquisition (he famously took up painting and photography late in life this way).
- Imagine the jump. Vividly picture yourself transitioning into an alternate universe and meeting the version of you who has already mastered that ability — see them, their environment, how they carry themselves.
- Interact and absorb. Engage this alternate self; observe and “download” their knowledge, skill, habits, and state of being — Goldman frames step three as absorbing/integrating their experience as if copying it into your own mind.
- Jump back and integrate. Return to your present self carrying the learning, and then act on it — begin practising and incorporating what you “brought back” into ordinary life.
- Repeat across sessions. Treat it as a recurring practice, revisiting the parallel self to deepen the skill and the self-image of one who already has it. (Sourcing note: “quantum jumping,” “jump,” and the parallel-self framing are Goldman’s, attributed. The numbered protocol is a faithful synthesis of his program, not a reproduction of his copyrighted course material.)
Source & Lineage
Burt Goldman (1927–2024) was a meditation teacher and the world’s leading instructor of the Silva Method, a student of both José Silva and (in the Eastern lineage) Paramahansa Yogananda.
Quantum Jumping fuses Silva-style relaxed visualization with the parallel-universe imagery popularised by quantum mysticism; it is a near-cousin of Neville’s “living in the end” and of “acting as if,” differing in its explicit parallel-self and skill-modelling framing.
Common refinements
Expecting skill without practice. The “download” is a motivator and self-image shift, not a substitute for actually doing the reps. Integrate by practising what you brought back.
- Skipping the relaxation. Jumping from a tense, busy mind weakens the imagery. Settle first.
- Vagueness. “Be successful” gives nothing to model. Pick one concrete ability and imagine specifics.
- Treating the metaphysics literally. Believing you’re truly raiding other universes can tip into magical thinking. Hold it as a powerful imaginal frame.
- One-and-done. It rewards repetition; revisit the parallel self regularly.
