Morning Manifesting Alignment
To run a brief morning sequence — settle and breathe, give thanks, check in with feeling, set an intention, and feel the desire as already met — so you begin the day in a calm, expectant, ‘aligned’ emotional state.
Morning alignment in 5 lines: On waking, before the phone, take a few slow breaths. List a few things you’re grateful for (including what’s on its way). Check in honestly with how you feel, then name one clear intention for the day. Spend a moment feeling the desire as already met — then deliberately release the grip and move into your day calm and clear. Pair it with action; don’t treat it as a delivery system.
What it is
This is Sarah Prout’s daily morning manifesting ritual: a short, fixed sequence run on waking that moves you, in a few minutes, from groggy to aligned — calm, grateful, clear, and quietly expectant.
Where the “Dear Universe” letter is the written act, this is the felt-state practice that frames it. Prout’s underlying logic is the law-of-attraction premise that “you attract what you are, not what you want” — so the work is to deliberately set your emotional state first thing, rather than letting the day’s reactivity set it for you.
The active ingredients she emphasizes are gratitude, intention, and the felt sense of the wish already fulfilled, with releasing tension/resistance treated as essential (gripping too tightly is itself the block).
The Method
A faithful synthesis of Prout’s morning sequence (from Dear Universe and her daily journals):
- Arrive and breathe. Before reaching for the phone, take a few slow breaths and settle into the body — a brief calming-down to become receptive.
- Begin in gratitude. Bring to mind several things you’re genuinely thankful for — including things not yet arrived (“thank you for what’s on its way”). Gratitude is the entry state.
- Check in with how you feel. A short emotional inventory — notice the current state honestly rather than papering over it.
- Set the intention. Name what you want to call in today, clearly and positively (often paired with the written “Dear Universe” invocation).
- Feel it as already met. Spend a moment in the feeling of the desire fulfilled — relief, joy, ease, confidence — letting the body register “this is who I am,” not “this is what I lack.”
- Release the tension. Deliberately loosen any grasping or urgency; let the desire rest in trust rather than anxious wanting (the “no tension” emphasis).
- Anchor with an affirmation and move into the day “with happiness, confidence and clarity,” carrying the state, not clutching the outcome. (Sourcing note: a faithful synthesis of Prout’s published morning practice; no copyrighted text reproduced. Short quoted phrases are her own descriptions.)
Source & Lineage
The ritual is Sarah Prout’s, set out in Dear Universe (2019) and her Dear Universe daily journals. Its components are older and well-attested: gratitude practice and affirmation from New Thought; “feel it as already done” from Neville Goddard’s living-in-the-end and the Hicks/Abraham “emotional alignment” teaching; and release/non-resistance from the law-of-attraction and surrender traditions.
Prout’s contribution is the packaging into an accessible, repeatable daily morning ritual for a wide, largely beginner audience.
The Traditions' versions
Acting “as if” / living in the end — embodying the wish-fulfilled state.,
- Gratitude practice — the entry state of the ritual.
- Affirmations — the closing anchor line.
- Intention-setting — naming the day’s desire.
- Segment intending (Abraham-Hicks) — pre-setting the emotional tone of a coming “segment” of the day.
- Peak-state priming — deliberately engineering an opening emotional state.
- Letting go / non-resistance — the “release the tension” step.
Common refinements
Forcing a “high vibration” over real distress. This becomes bypass. Honour step 3 (honest check-in) before priming; you can feel grateful and acknowledge difficulty.
- Skipping action. Feeling aligned is the start, not the finish — pair it with real steps.
- Grasping / urgency. The “release tension” step matters; anxious wanting undercuts the calm state the ritual is for.
- Treating it as transactional. Running the steps to make outcomes appear breeds disappointment and self-blame; treat it as state-setting, not a vending machine.
- Inconsistency. The benefit compounds with daily repetition (The Inner Creates the Outer); sporadic use does little.
