Affirmation · “The Subconscious Says Yes”
The Decree
Speak short, present-tense ‘I AM’ affirmations aloud as authoritative decrees — repeated rapidly and rhythmically, with rising intensity and a clear inner visualization — to ‘command’ a desired change in oneself, others, or the world.
Pick one short “I AM” line stating the good as already true. Address your “I AM Presence” (preamble), then speak the decree aloud as a command — repeat it, slowly at first, then building into a rapid rhythmic chant. Visualize the desired state the whole time. Seal it with an acceptance line (“…in the Light that never, never, never fails!”). Do a few minutes daily; let momentum build. Keep acting in the real world.
What it is
For Elizabeth Clare Prophet (with her husband Mark Prophet), the most powerful spiritual tool is the decree: a short, present-tense, spoken statement — usually built on the words “ I AM“ — that is not a request but a command.
In her system, called the Science of the Spoken Word, you do not ask; you decree, speaking with authority as though the result were already so. The Prophets present this as a precise “technology” for drawing down spiritual “light” and directing it toward personal change, healing, protection, or world conditions.
What distinguishes Prophet’s form from ordinary affirmation is the delivery. Decrees are meant to be spoken aloud, repeated many times, and given with rhythm that accelerates — starting slow and deliberate, then speeding into a rapid, almost staccato cadence as “momentum” builds — all while holding a vivid inner picture of the desired outcome.
The Prophets’ specific innovation on the older I AM-Activity tradition was the introduction of rhythmic, rhyming decrees designed to be chanted at speed. The premise stated plainly on Summit Lighthouse material is that “dynamic decrees can make a difference in your mental outlook, your physical condition and in your relationship with God.”
The Method
- Choose one short decree. Use a brief, present-tense line — classically opening with “I AM” — that states the good as already true (purity, protection, supply, peace). Keep it short enough to repeat easily.
- Open with a preamble. In the full Summit Lighthouse form a decree begins by addressing the “I AM Presence” or a named Master (e.g. “O my constant, loving I AM Presence…”), which sets intention and frames what follows.
- Speak the body as a command. Say the affirmation aloud with authority — not hopefully, but as a settled fact. The “fiat” is spoken as a decree that sets something in motion.
- Repeat, building rhythm and speed. Begin slowly and clearly, then repeat the lines over and over, letting the cadence quicken into a rapid, rhythmic chant. The Prophets teach that repetition and rising tempo build “momentum.”
- Visualize throughout. Hold a clear inner image of the desired state while you decree — light, the finished outcome, or the person/condition being changed. Attention and word move together.
- Seal it. Close the decree with an acceptance/sealing line (the Summit form ends with phrasing such as “in the Light that never, never, never fails!”), affirming the work as complete.
- Practise regularly. Even a few minutes daily is encouraged; momentum is understood to grow with consistent practice. (Sourcing note: the “I AM,” command/fiat, rhythmic-acceleration, preamble-and-sealing structure, and quoted phrases are from The Science of the Spoken Word and The Summit Lighthouse’s own decree instruction; the numbered sequence is an attributed paraphrase. Short fair-use quotes only.)

Lineage: Prophet’s decrees descend directly from the “I AM” Religious Activity of Guy Ballard and Edna Ballard (and its lead transmissions via ), which first systematized “I AM” affirmations and decrees in the ascended-master current.
The Prophets’ distinct contribution was the rhythmic, rhyming, accelerating decree spoken at speed. Distinct from its neighbours: Shinn’s spoken word is a clipped legal deny-then-affirm decree in the New Thought line; Murphy’s and Ponder’s decrees are calm repeated suggestions for the subconscious.
Prophet’s signature is the chanted, speed-building, “I AM”-command decree addressed to an “I AM Presence,” with an explicit preamble and sealing.
Common refinements
Mumbling or going through the motions. A decree said flatly does little; the form depends on spoken authority and engaged attention.
- Speed without focus. Racing the words while the mind wanders loses the point — the visualization and intention must ride along with the rhythm.
- Treating it as magic over reality. Decreeing is not a substitute for action, treatment, or sound judgement.
- Outsourcing judgement to the movement. Use the practice without adopting the group’s authority claims or predictions (see Safety).
- Self-blame loops. If the outer condition lingers, do not read it as proof you “decreed wrong”; that just installs fresh anxiety.
