Affirmation  ·  “The Subconscious Says Yes”

Prosperity Decree

To build prosperity consciousness by declaring (decreeing) abundance aloud as already-true Truth, ideally combining the spoken word with the written word and imagination, and to keep supply ‘circulating’ through grateful tithing.

Beginner 5–15 min daily; tithing is ongoing New Thought / Unity
The prosperity decree in 5 lines: Choose a present-tense Truth about your abundance (“I am rich, well, and happy”) and speak it aloud daily — the spoken word releases what thinking keeps bottled up. For full power, also picture it and write it down. Decree, don’t beg. Tithe gratefully, without fear, to keep supply circulating — then expect, give thanks, and act.

Catherine Ponder, a Unity minister, made prosperity the explicit subject of affirmative prayer. Her signature instrument is the decree: a declaration of Truth spoken aloud — not a request to an external God, but an affirmation that divine, infinite supply is already yours.

Ponder’s distinctive emphases are (1) that the spoken word is more powerful than the merely thought word, because speaking “releases” the energy held inside; (2) that decree is most powerful when spoken word + written word + imagination are combined; and (3) that tithing — giving roughly a tenth, gratefully — keeps supply “circulating” and is, in her system, a practical prosperity law rather than mere charity.

Faithfully synthesised from The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity and Ponder’s prosperity affirmations:

  1. Choose a prosperity decree in the present tense. Phrase abundance as already-true Truth, not a wish. Ponder’s classic forms include statements such as “I am rich, well, and happy” and decrees affirming divine, lavish, inexhaustible supply now manifest in your life.
  2. Speak it aloud, daily and repeatedly. Don’t just think it. Ponder taught that the spoken word releases the energy you otherwise keep bottled inside — so declare it audibly, with conviction, returning to it daily.
  3. Combine the three powers for maximum effect. Ponder’s “most powerful technique of all”: picture what you want in imagination, write your desires on paper, and speak the decree aloud. The written word fixes it; the image gives it form; the spoken word releases it.
  4. Decree, don’t beg. The posture is declarative — you affirm the good as already established in divine Mind and claim it, rather than pleading for it from a withholding God.
  5. Tithe gratefully to circulate supply. Give about a tenth of your income to the source of your spiritual nourishment, gratefully and without fear — Ponder stresses tithing “generates prosperity only when you give gratefully and without fear instead of out of obligation.” Giving, in her law, primes receiving.
  6. Expect and release. Hold confident expectation that supply will appear through whatever channel, give thanks as if received, and let go of dictating the route. (Sourcing note: short decree phrasings such as “I am rich, well, and happy” and “give gratefully and without fear” are Ponder’s, attributed. The numbered protocol is a faithful synthesis of her teaching, not a reproduction of her text.)

Catherine Ponder (b. 1927) is a Unity minister and the best-known modern teacher of prosperity-focused New Thought, author of The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity and the “Millionaires of the Bible” series.

Her decree draws on the Unity affirmative-prayer tradition (Charles and Myrtle Fillmore) and the wider New Thought conviction that thought, spoken word, and image are creative.

The structured “affirmative prayer / treatment” family also includes Holmes’s Spiritual Mind Treatment; Ponder’s distinct stamp is its prosperity application and the spoken-word-plus-tithing emphasis.

Future-tense wording. “I will be prosperous” keeps prosperity at a distance; Ponder’s decrees are present and accomplished.

  • Silent-only affirming. Skipping the spoken word loses the release Ponder considered essential. Say it aloud.
  • Tithing out of obligation or fear. Grudging or fearful giving, in her own teaching, doesn’t generate prosperity — give gratefully or not at all.
  • Decreeing without action. Affirmation is a mindset primer, not a replacement for earning, saving, and prudent decisions.
  • Over-giving recklessly. “A tenth” is a guideline, not a mandate to give beyond your means — see Safety.
