Reconnective Healing

To ‘interact with’ a claimed new band of healing ‘frequencies’ (Energy, Light & Information) with the hands held off the body and no specific intention or protocol — letting the ‘frequencies’ produce whatever healing they will.

Reconnective Healing in 5 lines: The recipient lies down and relaxes. The practitioner holds hands near (not on) the body with no intent and no technique, scanning for subtle sensations (“frequencies”/registers) and “playing” with them. Twitches and eye-flutters are read as the frequencies “interacting.” There is no evidence any frequency exists — treat it as relaxing rest plus strong expectancy, never as a replacement for medical care.

Reconnective Healing (RH) is a hands-off energy-healing modality founded by chiropractor Eric Pearl. Its distinguishing claim is that there is a new, comprehensive band of healing — which Pearl calls “Energy, Light & Information®” — that anyone can access without learning a technique, without tools, and crucially without forming an intention or directing the healing.

The practitioner holds their hands near (not on) the recipient and simply notices subtle sensations (“registers” / “frequencies”) in the hands, “playing” with them — a movement that looks like stretching invisible taffy in the air.

The premise is that the “frequencies” are intelligent and “know where to go,” so the healer just facilitates contact and gets out of the way. Recipients often lie down with eyes closed and report tingling, warmth, eye-fluttering, or twitches.

As Pearl teaches it (in The Reconnection, 2001, and the official trainings):

  1. Drop technique and intent. Unlike Reiki or hands-on healing, you do not set an intention, run symbols, or try to send energy. You explicitly let go of “trying to heal.”
  2. Recipient relaxes. The person lies down comfortably, eyes closed, doing nothing in particular.
  3. Find the “registers.” The practitioner brings the hands near the body and scans for sensations — heat, cool, pressure, tingling, magnetic “pull” — between and around the hands. These felt sensations are called the registers or frequencies.
  4. Play with the frequencies. Rather than holding fixed positions, the practitioner follows and “plays” with whatever they sense, moving the hands in response, exploring how the sensations shift (the “taffy-pulling” motions). There is no fixed protocol or sequence.
  5. Observe the recipient. Involuntary movements — fluttering eyelids, finger/foot twitches, facial micro-movements, sighs — are taken as signs of “interaction” with the frequencies.
  6. Let it complete. Sessions are short and open-ended; the practitioner trusts the “intelligence” of the frequencies rather than aiming at a target, then closes. (This is a faithful summary of RH as taught — “no technique, no intent, feel the frequencies” — not a reproduction of copyrighted training material.)

Eric Pearl was a Los Angeles chiropractor who reported, from 1993, that patients described “healings” when he merely held his hands near them.

He built this into Reconnective Healing and a related one-off process called “The Reconnection,” taught worldwide through paid seminars and his book The Reconnection: Heal Others, Heal Yourself (2001).

RH positions itself as beyond Reiki, Therapeutic Touch and other energy modalities — “not a technique” — though it shares their laying-on-of-hands lineage. It has been the subject of pointed skeptical critique (e.g.

Science-Based Medicine). Related here: hands-on field work; acupressure energy work.

Mistaking sensations for proof. Tingling/heat in the hands is normal physiology and suggestion, not evidence of a healing frequency.

  • Using it for serious conditions. The “no intent, frequencies know best” framing can encourage delaying real care — the most dangerous error.
  • Paying premium prices for “the Reconnection.” Hold cost and cure-claims to a high evidentiary bar.
  • If you still want to use it: treat it as guided rest/relaxation with a caring practitioner, nothing more, and keep all medical care in place.
