Pam Grout's Gratitude Frequency

To deliberately generate the felt state of gratitude and joy (‘getting on the frequency of thanks’) so that appreciation, not anxious wanting, becomes the dominant daily emotional tone.

Beginner A few minutes daily; framed as a 30-day experiment New Thought / Law Of Attraction (Gratitude-As-Frequency)
Gratitude Frequency in 5 lines: Each day for 30 days, thank rather than think — deliberately generate the feeling of shameless gratitude and joy. Appreciate the ordinary and the expected, not just the obvious. Count wealth in many forms (social, creative, adventure, spiritual), not only money. Stop badmouthing your circumstances. Notice how mood and attention shift. (Do it for the well-documented well-being lift; hold the “calls in cash” claim loosely.)

In Thank & Grow Rich (and threaded through E-Cubed), Pam Grout argues that manifesting is less about thinking and more about thanking.

Her core move: deliberately get onto “the frequency of joy and gratitude” — generate the actual felt state of shameless appreciation — and, she claims, the world rearranges in your favour. Stripped of the metaphysics, it’s a daily gratitude-and-joy practice designed to flip your baseline emotional tone from anxious lack to abundance.

She frames it as a 30-day experiment and even tracks non-financial “capital” (social, creative, adventure, spiritual). This is an emotional-state practice first, a manifesting claim second.

Drawn from Thank & Grow Rich (30-day experiment) and Grout’s gratitude teaching:

  1. Decide to “thank, not think.” Grout’s slogan: it’s thanking, not thinking, that puts you “on an energetic frequency — a vibration” of abundance. The practice is about generating gratitude as a feeling, not cataloguing items dutifully.
  2. Generate the felt state daily. Each day, call up genuine appreciation and joy — let yourself actually feel grateful and glad, “shamelessly,” not just list things. The emotion is the active ingredient in her model.
  3. Thank in advance / thank broadly. Appreciate not only what’s already here but the goodness you expect; thank for ordinary things you’d normally overlook (your body, a roof, people, small pleasures).
  4. Widen “wealth” beyond money. Track multiple forms of “capital” — social, creative, adventure, alchemic, and spiritual — so gratitude trains you to see abundance you already have, not just dollars.
  5. Run it for 30 days. Treat it as a bounded experiment: practice daily for a month and observe the shift in mood, what you notice, and what shows up.
  6. Stay on the frequency, off the “smack.” A companion E-Cubed idea: “I will bring abundance and joy into my life once I stop talking smack about it” — i.e. stop complaining/badmouthing your circumstances, which (in her model) drops you off the gratitude frequency. (Sourcing note: “thank not think,” gratitude/joy as a “frequency/vibration,” the 30-day experiment frame, and the multi-form “capital” worksheet are documented in Thank & Grow Rich; the “stop talking smack” line is an E-Cubed experiment hypothesis. Wording is short paraphrase.)

Pam Grout (b. 1956); E-Squared (2013), E-Cubed (2014), Thank & Grow Rich (2016). The “gratitude as the master key to abundance” idea descends straight from New Thought prosperity teaching — Wallace Wattles (“the grateful mind is constantly fixed upon the best”), Catherine Ponder, and the Hicks/“Abraham” emotional-guidance / vibration model.

Grout’s contribution is the breezy 30-day experimental packaging and the multi-capital reframe of “rich.”

Wattles’ Science of Getting Rich — gratitude as the channel that keeps you connected to “the best.” Direct ancestor.

  • Hicks/“Abraham” emotional set-point — reach for the feeling of appreciation to shift your “vibration.”
  • Positive-psychology gratitude journaling — Emmons & McCullough’s “three blessings” / counting blessings (the evidence-based cousin).
  • Devotional thanksgiving — prayers of thanks across faith traditions.
  • Her own attention experiments — gratitude is the frequency illusion aimed at the good.

Listing without feeling. Rote “I’m grateful for X” with no emotion underperforms; Grout is right that the felt state is the point.

  • Toxic positivity. Using gratitude to suppress legitimate grief, anger, or to avoid fixing a real problem. Feel the hard thing too.
  • Money-fixation. Defeats her own multi-capital reframe; let gratitude widen, not narrow, to dollars.
  • Expecting cash by Friday. Holding it to a manifesting deadline turns the practice into anxious wanting — the opposite of gratitude.
  • Refinement: make it specific and varied (savour why you’re grateful), and pair with the evidence-based “three good things” written form for durability.
