Breath & Energy · “Breath Is the Bridge”
Raising Your State
Use conscious breath, attention, and felt energy to deliberately lift your present emotional-energetic state — from contraction toward openness, aliveness, and a higher baseline ‘frequency’ — and then act and rest from there.
Raising Your State: Read your baseline honestly. Sit, relax, and breathe a little more fully and consciously — gently. Put attention on the aliveness in your body and let the breath feed it. Deliberately amplify a genuine higher feeling (appreciation, excitement, expansive love) on each in-breath; release contraction on each out-breath. When the state lifts, soften and rest there a few breaths, then act from it. Keep the breath comfortable, not forced.
What it is
This is the energy/frequency layer of Bentinho Massaro’s system rendered as a doable breath-and-attention practice: consciously using breath, focus, and felt energy to lift your present state — moving from a contracted, dull, or anxious baseline toward openness, aliveness, and what he calls a higher “frequency” — and then living and creating from that raised state.
In his framework, your moment-to-moment state is treated as the operative variable: rather than waiting to feel better, you actively generate a better felt state through the body. The practice braids three things — breath (conscious, often expansive breathing to mobilize energy and openness), attention (placing focus on aliveness, the body, or an uplifting felt-quality), and felt energy/emotion (deliberately amplifying appreciation, excitement, or expansive love).
It operationalizes vibration/frequency as the language of states (Life Is a Dream), feeling as the operative force (The Inner Creates the Outer), and the present moment as the point of power (The Inner Creates the Outer).
The supported reality is a genuine state change; the claim that this state retunes external circumstances is the unproven metaphysical add-on.
The Method
A faithful, gentle rendering of Massaro’s state-raising work (paraphrase; keep the breath comfortable, never forced):
- Read your current state honestly. Pause and notice where you are — contracted, flat, anxious, fine. No judgement; just a baseline reading.
- Settle the body and begin conscious breathing. Sit upright, relax the shoulders and jaw, and start breathing a little more fully and consciously — slow, smooth, into the belly and chest. (Keep it gentle: this is conscious breathing to open and energize, not forced hyperventilation.)
- Direct attention to aliveness/energy. As you breathe, place attention on the sense of energy or aliveness in the body — the buzz of being present — and let the breath feel like it is feeding and circulating that openness.
- Generate and amplify an uplifting feeling. Deliberately call up a genuinely available higher feeling — appreciation, excitement, expansive love, awe — and on each in-breath let it grow; on each out-breath let tension and contraction release. You are choosing and amplifying the state, not waiting for it.
- Let it become spacious, not effortful. As the state lifts, soften the doing. Rest in the raised, open feeling for a few breaths so it becomes your present baseline rather than a strained performance.
- Stabilize and carry it. From this raised state, take a real next action or simply continue your day, returning to a few conscious breaths whenever you notice you’ve dropped back into contraction. (Sourcing note: “raising your state/frequency,” conscious breath, and amplifying an uplifted feeling are Massaro’s framing, attributed; the steps paraphrase his guided sessions and are written conservatively for safety, not reproduced verbatim.)
Source & Lineage
Bentinho Massaro (b. 1988) used Bashar-style vibration/alignment concepts as the bridge between his nondual recognition and his manifestation teaching; this state-raising breath/energy work is that bridge in practice.
It draws on a wide field — pranayama and yogic energy work, modern conscious/connected breathing, and New Age “frequency/alignment” ideas — recast as a present-moment tool for deliberately choosing one’s energetic state.
The Traditions' versions
The move — use breath, attention, and feeling to deliberately lift your energetic/emotional state — is ancient and cross-traditional. Massaro’s signature is framing it as raising your “frequency” and tying the raised state to his empowerment-and-creation system: - Follow your highest excitement (Bashar) — the Bashar lineage Massaro draws on; navigate by the most alive felt-state.
- Consciously connected breathing (Michael Brown / Presence Process) — conscious connected breath to shift presence and state.
- Raising your level of energy (Dodson) — deliberately choosing and lifting your energetic state.
- Heart Lock-In (HeartMath) — sustain an uplifted heart-feeling to shift physiology.
- Coherent / slow breathing — paced breath to shift autonomic balance and mood.
Common refinements
Forcing the breath. Hard, fast over-breathing causes light-headedness and tingling and defeats the calming effect. Keep it smooth and comfortable; the goal is conscious, not strenuous.
- Faking the feeling. Plastering on a high state over unacknowledged fear or grief is suppression, not state-raising. Let yourself feel what’s there first (see the self-acceptance practice) — then lift.
- State-chasing as avoidance. Compulsively trying to feel “high-frequency” to escape ordinary or difficult feelings becomes its own anxious loop. Use it as a tool, not a demand.
- Believing a low state means you failed. States naturally rise and fall. A persistent low isn’t proof you “did it wrong” — and may be a signal to rest, get support, or address a real problem.
- Refinement: pair with the recognition practice so the raised state rests on present awareness rather than on effortful pumping; and keep sessions short and regular.
