Surrender · “Let Go to Receive”
The Dynamind Technique
Release physical, emotional, or mental tension/discomfort with a short fixed self-applied sequence: a present-tense statement of intent to change, light tapping on chest and points, and a long relaxing breath.
Dynamind in brief: Bring the symptom to mind. Say aloud: “I have this [symptom], and that’s changing now, and I want it to go away.” Fingertips together. Tap lightly ×7 on the centre of the chest, then the thumb-index web of each hand. Take one deep breath and exhale up through the crown, releasing. Check, and repeat as needed.
What it is
The Dynamind Technique is a brief, fixed, self-applied process created by Serge Kahili King for relieving “symptoms of discomfort and dysfunction” — physical aches, emotional upsets, or recurring negative thoughts.
It rests on King’s premise that tension is at the root of most problems, so releasing tension (with intention, attention, light touch, and breath) lets the body-mind self-correct. It is one of the most concrete, repeatable methods attributable specifically to King, and it sits in the same family as EFT/tapping and the Sedona Method — a quick, low-risk release practice.
The Method
King teaches Dynamind as a short, repeatable round. The sequence (paraphrased from his Dynamind materials and Instant Healing):
- Stand or sit, hands relaxed. Bring the problem/symptom to mind so you know what you’re working on.
- Make the Dynamind statement (state the change you want, in the present). Speak a three-part statement aloud: name the problem, say that it’s changing, and that you want it to go away — for example: “I have this [tension / pain / worry], and that’s changing now, and I want it to go away.” King’s wording is deliberately gentle and assumes change is already underway.
- Touch the fingertips together and breathe. Bring the fingertips of both hands together in front of the chest as a relaxed focusing gesture.
- Tap lightly, 7 times each, at three points while staying relaxed: - the centre of the chest (over the breastbone), - the web/junction between thumb and index finger of one hand, - then the same point on the other hand.
- Take one deep, relaxing breath — inhale, then exhale upward through the crown (King’s “breathe out through the top of the head” cue), looking up briefly as you let go. This is the actual release.
- Check and repeat. Notice whether the symptom has shifted. If it’s reduced but not gone, repeat the whole round (often several times), each time restating where the symptom is now. King teaches gentle persistence rather than forcing. (Sourcing note: this is a faithful paraphrase of King’s published Dynamind sequence; exact phrasings are his.)
Source & Lineage
Serge Kahili King (b. 1934) is an American author who teaches a system he calls Huna / Hawaiian shamanism, which he traces to the kupua tradition of the Kahili family of Kauai (he was adoptively trained in that lineage).
His best-known framework is the Seven Principles of Huna (e.g. IKE — “the world is what you think it is”; MAKIA — “energy flows where attention goes”; ALOHA — “to love is to be happy with”).
The Dynamind Technique is his original self-healing method, taught through Aloha International and Instant Healing (2000). As with all “Huna,” note the lineage caveat below. → suggested author node.
A note on the evidence on “Huna”: “Huna” as a named system originates with Max Freedom Long in the 20th century; it is not ancient Hawaiian religion, and many Native Hawaiians regard the commercialised “Huna/Hawaiian-shamanism” brand as appropriative.
King claims a genuine family teaching lineage, but the broader “Huna” label and its New Thought framing remain contested. Present it honestly.
Common refinements
Tapping hard or rushing. It’s light contact; the relaxation and breath matter more than force.
- Skipping the breath/release. The exhale “out the top of the head” is the actual letting-go — don’t drop it.
- Stating the problem as permanent. King’s statement deliberately says “that’s changing now”; keep the present-progressive framing.
- One-and-done impatience. It’s designed to be repeated; restate the symptom as it currently is each round.
- Using it instead of real care. It is not a treatment for medical or psychiatric conditions.
