Imagination · “Feel It Real”
Visualize Your Good
Vividly imagine and emotionally feel yourself already in possession of the good you desire — money, success, wellbeing — and hold that felt picture daily until it governs your self-image and expectancy.
Close your eyes and see your good vividly and present — “see green.” Then feel it: the satisfaction of already having it. Believe it as true of you, not as a far-off wish, and hold that felt picture daily until it is your self-image. “See it, feel it, believe it.” Then get up and do the work — the picture directs effort, it does not replace it, and it is never a reason to give anyone money.
What it is
Reverend Ike’s central imagination practice: you close your eyes and vividly see — and feel — yourself already in possession of the good you want, whether money, success, health, or wellbeing, and you hold that picture daily until it becomes your settled self-image.
His most famous instruction is blunt and sensory: “Close your eyes and see green. Money up to your armpits.” The point is not idle daydream but a deliberate, emotionally charged rehearsal of having-it-now. Ike summarized the operative sequence as “see it, feel it, believe it, and it will come” — picturing is only the doorway; the felt conviction of already possessing the good is the engine.
Where mainstream New Thought spoke gently of “supply,” Ike pushed the same premise to its most explicit, money-forward extreme under his banner “Science of Living.”
The Method
- Get a definite picture of your good. Not vague wishing — a specific image of the money, position, car, home, or healed condition you intend.
- Close your eyes and make it vivid and present. “See green.” See the thing here, now, around you and in your hands, not far off in the future.
- Feel it — this is the step Ike stresses. Feel the satisfaction, security, and pleasure of already having it. “See it, feel it” — the emotion is what impresses it (The Inner Creates the Outer).
- Believe it as already true of you. Move from “I want” to “this is mine / this is who I am.” The picture must become your self-image, not a petition.
- Hold it daily and return to it. A picture flashed once does nothing; Ike wants it repeated until it is your habitual inner climate (The Inner Creates the Outer territory).
- Let it govern your speech and bearing. The inner picture is meant to show up as confident, prosperous self-talk and conduct, not stay sealed in the head.
Source & Lineage
Reverend Ike (Frederick J. Eikerenkoetter II), “Science of Living” radio/TV sermons and his United Church Science of Living Institute teachings; signature lines “close your eyes and see green / money up to your armpits,” “see it, feel it, believe it, it will come,” and “you can’t lose with the stuff I use.” Doctrinally a direct, popularized descendant of the Quimby–Hill–Peale line: Hill’s “creative imagination,” Peale’s “picturize,” and the older New Thought “mental picture” tradition.
Common refinements
Fantasy replacing action. Picturing money is not earning money. Close every session with a concrete next step.
- Picturing only the prize. Add the path — see yourself doing the work, not just owning the result. Process imagery outperforms outcome imagery.
- Giving-to-get. Ike’s ministry tied “visualize your good” to donating to him. Strip that out entirely; the practice does not require, and is not improved by, sending anyone money.
- Self-blame on a bad day. If the good hasn’t come, that is not proof your picture was “weak.” Reject the guilt loop; circumstances have many causes.
