Visualizing the Achieved Goal

Daily, vividly picture the achieved business or life goal — seeing and feeling it as if it is happening now, the way athletes rehearse — to build belief, motivation, and a clear target the mind moves toward.

Green’s visualization: Pick a specific achieved win. Picture it vividly, first-person, and feel it as if it’s happening now — the way athletes rehearse. Make it tangible (her mock magazine covers), use guided audio if it helps, repeat daily — then go do the work.

This is Carrie Green’s visualization practice, the tool she credits with helping bring success into her own business. She recommends vividly picturing what you want to achieve — seeing it happen and feeling it happen, as if it were happening right now, the way she says top athletes rehearse.

It is a daily, emotionally-engaged mental rehearsal of the achieved goal. Compared with the generic entries and the Assaraf/Silva rehearsals, Green’s version is entrepreneur-applied and concrete: she famously mocked up magazine covers with the faces of the guests she wanted to feature, making the future win specific, visible, and felt before it existed.

Green’s practice, faithfully:

  1. Get specific about the win. Choose a concrete achieved outcome — the launch, the feature, the milestone — not a vague wish.
  2. Picture it vividly. “Vividly picturing what I wanted to achieve” — see the scene in detail, first-person.
  3. Feel it as if now. See it and feel it “like it was happening right then and there,” as athletes do — bring the emotion of having already arrived.
  4. Make it tangible (optional). Give the goal a concrete image — e.g. her mock magazine covers — so the target is vivid and repeatable.
  5. Use guided audio if helpful. She “started to listen to guided visualizations to program my subconscious mind for success.”
  6. Repeat daily, then act. Treat it as a short daily rep that fuels belief and clarity, paired with the real work. (Sourcing note: faithful to Green’s TEDxManchester talk and She Means Business; quoted phrases are hers, short fair-use quotation.)

Carrie Green, She Means Business (2017) and “Programming Your Mind for Success” (TEDxManchester). It sits in the long visualization lineage — New Thought mental picturing, sports-psychology motor imagery, law-of-attraction “feel it as done” — applied to entrepreneurship for a women’s-business audience.

Outcome-only fantasy. Picturing the prize without doing the work can sap motivation; pair it with concrete next steps.

  • Flat, emotionless picturing. Green’s instruction is to feel it as if now; engage the emotion.
  • One-off practice. It is a short daily rep, not a single session; the benefit is in consistency.
  • Mistaking vividness for progress. A clearer picture is not a built business — use it to fuel action, not replace it.
