The Law of Love

Deliberately generate a felt state of love and goodwill and hold/radiate it toward self, others and circumstances — Fersen’s core ethical-energetic practice of raising one’s ‘vibration’ through love.

Beginner 5-10 min daily Science Of Being (New Thought)
Settle and soften. Kindle a real felt sense of love and goodwill. Affirm “I am one with Love; I radiate love and goodwill now.” Rest it on yourself first, then extend it to loved ones, neutral people, difficult people, and your circumstances. Carry the loving tone into the day. 5-10 minutes daily.

In Eugene Fersen’s Science of Being (1923), Love is taught as one of the highest expressions of the one Universal Principle and as the practical key to raising one’s “vibration.” The practice is to deliberately generate a felt state of love/goodwill and radiate it outward — toward oneself, other people, and one’s circumstances — as a core daily discipline rather than a mood that comes and goes.

Fersen frames love as “a ladder to step into higher vibrations.” Rendered plainly, it is a positive-emotion cultivation + affirmation practice: intentionally evoking warmth and benevolence and letting it color one’s state and conduct — closely parallel to lovingkindness (metta) practice, in Fersen’s energetic idiom.

  1. Settle and soften. Sit comfortably, relax the body, and take a few slow, easy breaths to quiet down.
  2. Kindle the feeling. Call up a genuine felt sense of love and goodwill — from a person, memory or simple wish for good — until it is warm and real, not just a thought. (Fersen’s emphasis: it must be felt, the feeling is the operative thing.)
  3. Affirm it. Hold a simple affirmation in his idiom, e.g. “I am one with Love; I radiate love and goodwill now.”
  4. Radiate to self first. Let the warmth rest on yourself — Fersen treats self-acceptance as the base note before love can flow outward cleanly.
  5. Radiate outward. Extend the same felt goodwill to people you care for, then to neutral people and difficult people, then outward without limit — silently wishing them well and “sending” the warmth.
  6. Include circumstances. Bring the same benevolent tone to your situation and the day ahead, meeting it with goodwill rather than grievance.
  7. Carry it. Rest in the state for a few minutes, then deliberately keep the loving tone running through your dealings during the day. (Sourcing note: Love as highest vibration / “ladder to higher vibrations” and the deliberate cultivation-and-radiation of love are faithful to Fersen’s teaching; the staged self→others→circumstances sequence is attributed paraphrase, informed by the broader lovingkindness pattern.)

From the Science of Being system of Eugene Fersen (c. 1873-1956), founder of the Lightbearers, who placed Love among the central laws of his metaphysics and made radiating it a core practice.

The method runs parallel to Buddhist lovingkindness (metta) and to New Thought “outflowing love” teachings (e.g., Trine), recast in Fersen’s vibration-and-energy language.

Affirming without feeling. Saying “I radiate love” flatly does little; the felt warmth is the active ingredient (The Inner Creates the Outer).

  • Skipping the self. Radiating to others while harsh with oneself tends to ring hollow; start with self-warmth.
  • Forcing it past resistance. If difficult people feel impossible, stay with easier targets; never strain or fake it.
  • Expecting it to move other people. Hold it as a discipline that changes your state and conduct, not a remote-control on others.
