Construct an Event

Build one single, simple, self-centred action that implies your wish is already fulfilled, and loop it in imagination until it feels real.

Beginner 5–15 min New Thought / Law Of Assumption

Know exactly what you want.

  • Build ONE simple event implying it’s done, self predominant.
  • Be the actor, first person, not the audience.
  • Loop just that single act until it feels real.
  • Do it in a relaxed, sleep-like state.

A disciplined scene-building method. Rather than a sprawling daydream, you construct one single, simple event that would only be happening if your desire were already fulfilled — and you, as the actor, perform just that one act, over and over, until it takes on “all the feeling of reality.” The constraint to a single repeated action is what distinguishes this from a free-form mental movie: tight focus, not a storyline.

  1. Define the objective. “The first step in changing the future is DESIRE… know definitely what you want” (Remain Faithful to Your Idea).
  2. Construct one implying event. “Construct in your mind’s eye a single, simple event which implies fulfillment of your desire, an event wherein self predominates” (Thinking Fourth-Dimensionally). It should be something you’d plausibly encounter following the fulfilment.
  3. Be the actor, not the audience. “Instead of sitting back and looking at yourself as though you were on the screen, you be the actor in the drama.”
  4. Restrict it to a single act. Neville’s handshake example: “if I single out as an event, shaking a man’s hand, then that is the only thing I do. I do not shake it, then light a cigarette and do a thousand other things. I simply imagine that I am actually shaking hands and keep the act going over and over and over again until the imaginary act has all the feeling of reality” (Assumptions Harden Into Fact).
  5. Induce a sleepy state and feel into it. “Immobilize the physical body, and induce a condition akin to sleep… with eyelids closed and your attention focused on the action… mentally feel yourself right into the proposed action; imagining all the while that you are actually performing the action here and now” (Remain Faithful to Your Idea).

Genuine Neville material drawn from “Thinking Fourth-Dimensionally” (be the actor, not on the screen), “Assumptions Harden Into Fact” (the single handshake act repeated), and “Remain Faithful to Your Idea” (the explicit three steps: desire → construct an implying event → induce sleep-like state and feel into the action). The defining feature is the single, simple, repeated act.

Letting the scene sprawl into a sequence of actions. Pick one act and loop only it.

  • Choosing a scene that doesn’t imply fulfilment. The act should make sense only if the wish is already true.
  • Watching yourself (“on the screen”) instead of being the actor in first person.
  • Stopping before it “has all the feeling of reality” — repetition to felt-reality is the point.
