Imagination · “Feel It Real”
Congratulations
Imagine a friend congratulating you on your fulfilled desire — shaking your hand, speaking the words — and accept it as real, using the friend as a fixed reference point that proves you have ‘moved.’
Assume you already have it.
- Pick a friend who would congratulate you.
- Feel the handshake; hear the words of congratulation.
- Stand in the centre, accept without embarrassment.
- Sustain until real, then drop in confidence.
What it is
A focused scene in which a friend congratulates you on the very thing you desire — as though it has already happened. You shake their hand and feel its reality, hear their words of congratulation, and accept them without embarrassment.
The friend functions as a “fixed reference point”: you can only know you have inwardly moved toward your wish when another person reacts to you as the changed, successful version of yourself.
The Method
- Know exactly what you want, then assume you have it. “Knowing exactly what you want, view the world from the premise that you have it” (The Creator).
- Use a friend as your reference. “A friend is a good frame of reference. Looking at his face, let him see you as he would if your desire were fulfilled. He would see you differently, would he not?”
- Let him congratulate you. “If he is one who would congratulate you, accept his congratulations.”
- Make it tactile and auditory. “Extend your hand mentally and feel the reality of his hand. Listen and hear the reality of his words of congratulation.”
- Put yourself in the centre of the scene. “Do not allow yourself to observe the action, but put yourself in the center of the scene and allow your friends to congratulate you… Accept their congratulations without embarrassment” (The Spirit Within).
- Catch the feeling and tell your news. “Simply catch the feeling that you have it and sustain that feeling… In your imagination tell your friends your good news. Hear their congratulations” (The First Principle).
- Then drop it in faith. Remain in the scene “until it feels real, then drop it in confidence that the imaginal act was performed by God.” Its potency “is not in the scene itself, but what the scene implies” (The Heavenly Vision).
Source & Lineage
Genuine Neville material assembled from four lectures: “The Creator” (the friend as frame of reference; feel the reality of his hand), “The Spirit Within” (put yourself in the centre; accept without embarrassment), “The First Principle” (catch the feeling; tell your friends your good news), and “The Heavenly Vision” (the potency is what the scene implies; if you need a more complex scene, eavesdrop).
It is closely related to — and often blended with — the Eavesdrop technique, which shifts to overheard third-party talk.
Common refinements
Watching the scene from outside. Be in the centre of it, receiving the congratulation in first person.
- Flinching or deflecting. Neville stresses accepting congratulations “without embarrassment.”
- Skipping the senses. Feel the hand; hear the words and tone.
- Clinging anxiously. After it feels real, drop it in confidence rather than re-checking.
