The Violet Consuming Flame

Call forth the ‘violet consuming flame’ by an ‘I AM’ decree and visualize it passing through and around you, ‘consuming’ discord, fear, and limitation — to produce a felt release and reset of inner state.

Beginner A few minutes; a short 'I AM' call repeated while holding the violet-flame image, often daily I AM' Activity (Ascended Master Teachings)
Turn to your “I AM Presence” and name what you want cleared. Call forth the flame — “I AM the violet consuming flame” — spoken with feeling. Visualize a violet flame (with golden-violet light pouring down “like an avalanche”) blazing up through and around you, consuming the heaviness and leaving clarity and lightness. Repeat, keeping the image vivid; close in renewal. Do it daily. It is a mood-and-imagery practice, not a medical treatment.

This is the originating form of the violet flame practice — the one Guy Ballard (as Godfré Ray King) introduced through the “I AM” Activity in the 1930s, attributing it to the ascended master Saint Germain.

In Ballard’s teaching it is the single most emphasized practice: you call forth the “violet consuming flame” with an “I AM” decree and visualize it blazing up through and around your body, “consuming” — burning away — discord, fear, mistakes, and limitation, and leaving you feeling clear and renewed.

The flame is described as the “ violet consuming flame of Divine Love,” and the act is one of calling it forth by command and then seeing and feeling it do its work. Original instruction often paired the violet flame with imagery of “great cosmic streams of golden light substance“ pouring down through the body “like an avalanche,” sometimes with downward hand movements to direct the energy.

This is the source of the practice Elizabeth Clare Prophet later made famous. Her short, endlessly repeatable mantra-and-visualization is a later development of Ballard’s originating call — do not treat the two as one; this entry is the root, hers the descendant.

  1. Turn to the Presence. Acknowledge your “Mighty I AM Presence”; settle into a calm, intent posture.
  2. Bring up what you want cleared. Name a feeling, fault, fear, or condition you wish to be free of.
  3. Call forth the flame. Decree it in “I AM” form — e.g. “I AM the violet consuming flame” / “Mighty I AM Presence, blaze the violet consuming flame through me.” Speak with feeling, as a command, not a request.
  4. Visualize it blazing. See a violet flame rising up through and all around your body, passing through the area of difficulty; in the fuller original, picture streams of golden-violet light pouring down through you “like an avalanche.”
  5. See it consume the discord. As you hold the image, watch the heaviness, fear, or fault being burned up and dissolved, replaced by clarity, freedom, and light.
  6. Repeat and sustain. Repeat the call, keeping the flame vivid; let a steady rhythm build, as with any decree.
  7. Close in renewal. Finish with a felt sense of being cleared and lightened; return to ordinary activity. Use daily. (Sourcing note: the “violet consuming flame” naming, the call-and-visualize structure, the golden-light “avalanche” imagery, and the attribution to Saint Germain are from The Magic Presence and the “I AM” Discourses; the numbered sequence is an attributed paraphrase. Short fair-use quotes only.)

Lineage forward: the violet flame passed from the Ballards’ “I AM” Activity through Geraldine Innocente’s Bridge to Freedom to Elizabeth Clare Prophet’s Summit Lighthouse, where it became the short couplet “I AM a being of violet fire, I AM the purity God desires” — a mass-audience repackaging of this originating call.

Distinct from its neighbours: this is the originating violet-flame call (Ballard’s “I AM the violet consuming flame” with golden-light imagery), as opposed to Prophet’s later fixed-couplet mantra.

It differs from Ballard’s plain (an identity affirmation, no flame) and from white-light protection forms like.

Calling without seeing. The practice is half visualization; reciting the words with a blank mind loses most of the effect.

  • Expecting it to heal illness. This is the dangerous error the claims invite — keep medical and psychiatric care fully in place (see Safety).
  • Straining for a perfect image. A loose, felt sense of violet (and golden) light is enough; forcing a vivid picture blocks the relaxation.
  • Mistaking relief for karmic erasure. Take the felt release without buying the cosmology offered to explain it.
