Inner Journey to the Violet Flame Temple in Telos
In a relaxed seated meditation, connect with the heart, imagine travelling to the Violet Flame Temple in Telos beneath Mount Shasta, and rest within the flame — letting the immersive imagery produce a felt state of cleansing, peace, and renewal.
Journey to the Violet Flame Temple: Sit, relax, and drop into the heart, sensing your Higher Self. Humbly ask to be taken to the Violet Flame Temple in Telos. Let the imagery carry you inward to the temple and its great violet flame; rest within it, feeling cleansing and peace. Receive, give thanks, then retrace the journey back, feel your body, and open your eyes.
What it is
This is the guided visualization form of Aurelia Louise Jones’s flame work — distinct from any spoken decree. Rather than repeating words, the practitioner relaxes, drops into the heart, and imagines an inner journey to the Violet Flame Temple said to lie within Telos, the Lemurian “City of Light” beneath Mount Shasta.
Inside the temple, you rest within the violet flame and let the immersive imagery produce a felt state of cleansing and peace. Jones published several such “temple-journey” meditations — to the Violet Flame Temple, the Crystal-Rose Flame Temple of Love, the Ascension Temple, and others — one per sacred flame.
It belongs in meditation stillness because the active ingredient is sustained, absorbed inner attention, not repetition or command.
The Method
Faithfully described from Jones’s Telos Vol. 2 meditation and her temple-journey guided meditations (short attributed phrases only):
- Settle the body. Sit comfortably, close the eyes, and relax with a few slow breaths. Jones’s stated wish is for people to “live from the heart at all times,” so the meditation begins by softening attention.
- Connect with the heart and Higher Self. Place attention in the heart centre and sense your connection upward to your own Higher Self. This is the gateway step in all her flame work.
- Set the intention and ask permission. Quietly ask, with humility, to be taken in consciousness to the Violet Flame Temple, and invite Adama and the masters of the flame to receive you.
- Make the inner journey. Imagine descending or travelling inward toward Mount Shasta and into Telos — let the guided imagery carry you: the city, the temple, the great violet flame at its heart.
- Rest within the flame. Picture yourself standing or sitting within the violet flame, letting it pass through you, cleansing and renewing. Stay with the felt sense — warmth, lightness, release — rather than analysing.
- Receive and give thanks. Allow any sense of peace, insight, or blessing; offer gratitude to the flame and its keepers.
- Return gently. Retrace the journey back to the room, feel your body and the chair, take a breath, and open the eyes. Ground before resuming activity. (Sourcing note: the heart-connection opening, the journey-to-Telos structure, the rest-within-the-flame core, and the named temples are attributed paraphrase of Jones’s published meditations; the numbered sequence is reconstructed. Short fair-use phrases only.)
Source & Lineage
Aurelia Louise Jones (c.1940–2009) presented these meditations as channelled from Adama, “high priest of Telos.” The Violet Flame Temple journey appears in Telos Volume 2; the wider set of flame-temple meditations accompanies The Seven Sacred Flames.
Lineage: the practice fuses three streams — the violet flame of the Ballard “I AM” Activity and Saint Germain; the guided inner-journey / pathworking common to Theosophical and Western-esoteric meditation; and the Mount Shasta / inner-earth / Lemuria mythos that Jones made her own.
Distinct from its neighbours: this is a destination visualization (travel to a place, rest in a flame), not a sit-with-a-mantra or a decree. It contrasts with Roerich’s (a continuous heart/psychic-energy discipline, no journey) and with Stone’s (a ritual activation rather than an immersive temple journey).
The Traditions' versions
The underlying move — relax, then take a vivid inner journey to a sacred place and be transformed there — is one of the oldest meditative technologies: - Esoteric pathworking / temple visualization — guided journeys to inner temples in Theosophical and Hermetic practice.
- Transmission / contact meditations — sitting to receive a higher influence.
- Heart-attentiveness (Agni Yoga) — heart-centred meditation without the journey frame.
- Guided imagery / visualization (clinical) — relaxation and immersive imagery used for calm, pain, and mood.
- Prophet’s tube of light — a protective light-visualization in the same flame lineage.
Common refinements
Trying too hard to “see” it. Vividness varies; a felt sense or vague impression works as well as sharp pictures. Don’t strain.
- Skipping the grounding return. Always retrace the journey and feel the body before resuming activity, especially before driving.
- Mistaking imagery for objective travel. Hold the experience as a meaningful inner state, not literal verified contact — this keeps it healthy and avoids dependence.
- Rushing. The cleansing/renewal feeling builds with unhurried time inside the flame; give it minutes, not seconds.
- Doing it when overtired. It’s easy to simply fall asleep; sit upright if you want the meditative (not nap) benefit.
