What it was
The Society of the Inner Light grew from the Fraternity of the Inner Light, founded by occultist Dion Fortune in 1924 after she left the Alpha et Omega, a Golden Dawn successor.
Incorporated as a charity in 1946, it teaches a Western mystery tradition blending Kabbalah, ritual and Christian mysticism. It remains active in London.
Its place in the lineage
The Society is a principal living continuation of the Golden Dawn current, and a seedbed for later teachers and orders of the Western Mysteries.
