The Philosophy of Freedom
Anthroposophy, Bio-Coherence & Fringe MatrixThe Philosophy of Freedom is Rudolf Steiner's early epistemological work, arguing that genuine human freedom is achieved through intuitive thinking, by which the knower actively unites perception and concept rather than receiving reality passively. It grounds the possibility of free moral action in disciplined cognition.
The argument develops a theory of knowledge in which thinking is itself a form of perception capable of reaching the real, anticipating the later ambition of a rigorous "spiritual science" that would approach the supersensible with methodological discipline rather than faith or mediumistic passivity.
Within the anthroposophical tradition the work is the philosophical foundation on which Steiner built his staged training for supersensible perception and his account of the subtle bodies and the Akashic field, lending his later esotericism a deliberately scientific posture.
