Miracle of Love: Stories about Neem Karoli Baba
Yogic & TantricMiracle of Love is a gathered collection of devotees' stories about Neem Karoli Baba, the Hindu guru known as Maharaj-ji. Its central concern is a teaching given less through doctrine than through presence, distilled in his plainest counsel: love everyone, serve everyone, remember God.
The book proceeds by accumulation, assembling many first-hand accounts of his blunt affection, apparently uncanny knowledge, and insistence on simple devotion and service. The portrait that emerges argues, in effect, that inner state is transmitted and shifted through being rather than only through technique.
As guru to the former Harvard psychologist Ram Dass and to the kirtan musicians who followed, Maharaj-ji became a principal source of the devotional spirituality that shaped New Age and seeker culture. The book offers the heart-and-service counterpart to mind-power's mental-causation emphasis.
