John Dee and the Empire of Angels
Internet Occultism, High Strangeness & Game TheoryJohn Dee and the Empire of Angels is a scholarly-popular study of the Elizabethan polymath John Dee and the angelic, or Enochian, system of contact he recorded with the scryer Edward Kelley in the 1580s. Its central claim is that this system is best understood not as superstition but as an early attempt at a hyper-dimensional interface, a protocol for communicating with non-human intelligences.
The treatment situates Dee within the history of Western empire, science, and information, and reads his magical project through the contemporary vocabulary of systems theory, cognitive hacking, and consciousness technology. Magic emerges as a set of techniques for reprogramming perception and accessing other orders of mind, lending an esoteric subject intellectual seriousness.
The work positions Louv as a bridge between historical ceremonial magic and the tech-literate, online occult culture of the present, complementing his digital pedagogy through the school Magick.Me.
